- Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Commercial Estimator to join our growing construction team.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the estimation process for large-scale construction projects, ensuring accurate and competitive bids that align with project scope, budget, and schedule. Your expertise will drive the financial success of projects by providing detailed cost analysis, fostering strong client relationships through effective negotiation, and collaborating closely with project management and construction teams. Our expectation is to grow this department into a Preconstruction Team over the next 12 months. Duties Lead the preparation of comprehensive construction estimates, including conceptual, schematic, and detailed bids using tools like Pipeline, Bluebeam and procore. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop accurate project scopes and pricing strategies. Conduct thorough site visits once a week to gather data on existing conditions, logistics, and potential challenges to refine estimates. Manage subcontractor and supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Oversee the review of contracts, change orders, and scope modifications to ensure alignment with project budgets. Implement cost control measures throughout the bidding process and project execution phases to maximize profitability. Prepare detailed bid proposals that clearly articulate project costs, timelines, and value propositions. Experience Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong background in details civil and commercial projects. Demonstrated proficiency with Bluebeam for document markup and collaboration; experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software is essential. Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms from subcontractors and vendors. Solid understanding of construction site operations, safety protocols, and construction management principles. Familiarity with contract types, project management practices, and cost control methodologies within the construction industry. Prior experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents to develop accurate estimates. Construction site experience is highly desirable to better understand on-the-ground realities that impact estimating accuracy.
