Established in Midland, TX in 1987, we have grown into a leading wholesale distributor for wet utilities, with 8 locations across Texas and New Mexico. We are currently accepting applications for an Estimator to be based out of the Amarillo location to support estimating throughout the region.
Primary Job Responsibilities Include:
Perform material takeoffs and prepare detailed and accurate Bill of Materials; including Piping, Valves, Fittings, and Appurtenances from project plans. Compile material into a clear, concise, and easy to read quote with accurate pricing. Work closely with Sales team and management to determine which projects need to be quoted, due dates, addendums, and other updates or changes to project. Maintain industry knowledge, and be familiar with various markets that work is being quoted in to ensure that pricing is accurate and competitive. Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with external design engineers and contractors regarding drawing or specification questions/clarifications to. Effectively communicate with various inside and outside sales teams, project managers, and store managers to effectively handoff projects from the estimating/bidding phase. Take ownership of projects for assigned region, keep track of due dates and requirements for assigned projects.
Skills:
Effective oral and written communication skills Prefer prior experience with estimating or project management in a construction field Prefer experience reading and interpreting construction plans, as well as reading/interpreting technical specifications Must have a technical aptitude and a strong desire to learn and grow in this position Must have effective organization skills and a strong attention to detail. Time management - Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks concurrently and effectively prioritize and complete projects by deadline provided. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, prefer experience with Bluebeam or similar takeoff software Bachelors degree in engineering or construction management preferred, but not required
