Utilities Estimator Eikon-X Houston, TX Job Details Full-time $100,000 - $150,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Underground cable installation projects Data center experience Underground utilities New construction project estimation Analysis skills Telecommunications systems Telecommunication Underground construction Full Job Description Overview The Dry Utilities Estimator is responsible for leading all estimating and preconstruction efforts related to dry utility scopes, including power, telecom, and fiber projects for Data Center Construction and other market pursuits. This role plays a critical part in securing new work by developing accurate, competitive, and complete project estimates for data centers and other commercial and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has strong technical estimating experience, understands dry utility construction means and methods, and can confidently analyze plans, identify risks, and support pricing strategy. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals for dry utility scopes Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure full scope coverage Develop accurate budgets for power, telecom, and fiber installations Identify risks, gaps, and constructability issues during the bidding phase Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes and ensure alignment with project scope Perform value engineering and cost-saving analysis where applicable Maintain and organize bid documents, scopes, and estimate files Bid Management Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bid packages Coordinate with EVP and Preconstruction on pricing strategy and final bid review Track bid schedules, deadlines, and pipeline opportunities Assist in preparing proposals, clarifications, and post-bid documentation Collaboration & Support Work closely with Preconstruction, Operations, and Field Teams to ensure estimate accuracy Support project handoff from estimating to operations teams Provide detailed scope reviews and budget breakdowns to Project Managers Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions as needed Qualifications 5-10+ years of experience in dry utilities estimating (power, telecom, fiber) Experience bidding multi-million-dollar projects, including data center scopes preferred Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid processes Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills Knowledge of job costing and construction methods for dry utilities
