Pace GFX is seeking a skilled Assistant Project Estimator with a background in construction and fabrication who can be a key asset to supporting our project managers through the bid and ordering phases of the project. We've built a strong reputation in the fabrication and millwork space, and we're looking to add a highly capable estimator who can contribute to accurate cost models, risk assessment, and efficient procurement. Bring your talent to help create precise estimates, thoughtful material selections, and reliable schedules that keep projects on track. We'd love to meet you if you're a meticulous problem-solver who loves turning complex specifications into actionable, profitable bids.

Act as a crucial link between project managers, clients, and vendors by determining total cost, time, materials and labor for custom projects. You will work directly with the Project Director and Project Managers on a daily basis.

  • Assess scope, risks, and contingencies; quantify labor, materials, finishes, hardware, subcontractor costs, shipping, and installation.
  • Quantify materials needed for projects to ensure precise purchasing and budgeting
  • Serve as a critical bridge between sales, design, production, and procurement during the bid and ordering phases
  • Develop accurate, timely, and well-documented estimates for fabrication and millwork projects, including custom graphics, paneling, CNC-driven components, and display elements.
  • Collaborate with PMs and team leads to translate drawings and specifications into bill of materials (BOMs), cut lists, nested layouts, and production workflows
  • Lead or support value engineering discussions to optimize costs without compromising design intent.
  • Prepare and present bid summaries, post-bid analyses, and procurement plans for internal review.
  • Create and maintain estimated cost databases, supplier quotes, lead times, and escalation procedures.
  • Monitor and adjust estimates as project requirements evolve during design development, procurement, and production.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in fabrication and millwork settings, preferably with CNC-enabled shops or custom display fabricators.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, CAD/BIM files, and specs; translate into accurate BOMs and production-ready estimates.
  • Strong understanding of materials (wood, MDF, veneers, metal, finishes, fasteners, hardware) and fabrication processes (cutting, assembly, finishing, CNC routing, edgebanding, panel processing).
  • Experience with estimating software and tools (e.g., Excel-based takeoffs, CRM/ERP integrations, BOM/nested software, or similar)
  • Familiarity with procurement and subcontractor coordination; experience in bid packaging and post-bid re-scoping.
