Sales Manager Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Estimator to support our sales team in preparing accurate and timely bids. This role is critical to ensuring fast turnaround on customer requests and maintaining high standards of technical execution. The Estimator will work primarily behind the scenes but will occasionally engage directly with customers, attend trade shows, and visit job sites across the country. Key Responsibilities Develop and prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals using Excel and other tools. Collaborate with sales reps and technical staff to gather necessary input for accurate quoting. Ensure timely delivery of bids, often under tight deadlines. Maintain and update pricing databases, templates, and estimation tools. Review customer specifications and drawings to identify scope and requirements. Occasionally attend trade shows and customer job sites to support sales efforts and gather project information. Communicate with customers indirectly via email, phone, and through sales reps to clarify requirements and follow up on bids. Track and report on bid status, win/loss rates, and turnaround times. Qualifications Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in estimating, quoting, or technical sales support preferred. Willingness to travel occasionally for trade shows and site visits. Preferred Traits Self-motivated and proactive. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Technically curious and eager to learn about products and applications. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and operation of office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, video conference, and email. Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach while attending meetings, trade shows, customer facilities, or job sites. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, including trade show materials, product samples, luggage, and office supplies. Ability to travel by automobile and commercial airline for occasional business trips, including overnight travel. Ability to safely navigate manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and customer locations while observing all required safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus for reading detailed documents, drawings, specifications, and computer screens. Compensation This position offers a base salary plus performance-based bonus, structured to reward both speed and accuracy in bid execution. The specific compensation package will be negotiated based on the candidate's experience, skills, and fit for the role.
