Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our metal fabrication shop. The estimator will be responsible for reviewing customer drawings, preparing accurate cost estimates, and working closely with production to ensure quotes are achievable and competitive. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on fabrication experience who understands shop processes and materials. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and customer specifications Prepare accurate cost estimates for fabricated metal products Utilize estimating software to generate quotes and track job costs Evaluate material, labor, machining, welding, and finishing requirements Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams regarding scope and pricing Work closely with production and purchasing to ensure estimates align with shop capabilities Maintain organized records of quotes and revisions Required Qualifications Experience in metal fabrication (shop floor and/or estimating background) Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Experience using estimating or ERP software Solid understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and tolerances Strong math skills and attention to detail Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as an estimator in a fabrication or manufacturing environment Familiarity with CNC machining, welding, forming, and finishing processes Knowledge of cost control and job tracking Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Paid time off and holidays Retirement plan options Stable workload in a growing shop
