Job Description

Job Overview We Seek a Project Estimator to join our Team of Fire & Water Damage Restoration Professionals . In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing an accurate invoice for the work that we perform on emergency calls. Then you will create a cost estimate of all needed repair. This is often done while we are still doing the clean-up work, so you will learn to collect photos and the latest data from other team members. You may also refer to our DASH operating software in real time, seeing what was entered onto the time cards, or charged to that project. In this way you can make sure that we get reimbursed. Xactimate estimating software has all the pricing. You just need to understand what info to collect from the jobsite, and what all needs to be done, to get the family back into their home, or into an area of their home, as soon as possible. Maybe it is just restoring the kitchen to them… or building them a new garage, or cleaning and painting the whole basement. Sometimes they move into a hotel for x-days, or weeks, while other times they can stay in their home during the repair. As the project estimator you will make site visits to burned or flooded homes and businesses and discuss the project with insurance adjusters and property owners. You will take photos, and measurements, as you determine the best way to restore them. You will return to your office to do the paperwork. There is a Lot of paperwork. You must be able to type quickly and know your way around the computer and internet. You will email your estimates, take and store photos from off your cell phone, use excel spreadsheets, and google search various topics and procedures. We will help and train the right individual; however, you must have basic construction knowledge that we can build from. You must be reliable and trustworthy, and able to work unsupervised. We will help you be successful, as long as you will trade us an honest day's effort. Our insurance company must clear you, to drive our company-owned vehicles. You must be able to climb stairs and use step ladders, bend, lift and carry 40 pounds, kneel and crawl on the floor. On some days this can be a physical job, especially if you are on-site helping with Mitigation where there is a lot of movement and activity. When we are all busy, it will be appreciated if you help out when you can, and when you see a chance to help load drying equipment onto a truck, or unload the equipment when it returns, etc. However, some days, you may be at your computer all day, working on paperwork. Then you will look for a chance to get up and walk a little. Responsibilities Create construction drawings, and help determine the needed Scope of Work. Utilize Xactimate estimating software to generate cost estimates. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Monitor project costs throughout the repair process and update estimates as needed to ensure profitability. Contact or update the adjuster, about the additional cost incurred.
