Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Junior Electrical Estimator for a commercial/industrial electrical contractor located in Elkins, WV, where you will play a vital role in supporting electrical project bids and project management. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in electrical estimating, electrical systems, and project management within a collaborative environment. You will assist the Lead Estimators in preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing project specifications, and collaborating with experienced professionals to ensure competitive and comprehensive proposals. Skilled and experienced estimators encouraged to apply - salary negotiable based on experience. Duties Research and identify potential new bid projects. Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid. Conduct site visits/pre-bid meetings to gather information for estimating purposes. Analyze blueprints, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates. Perform a material and labor estimate identifying potential risks and opportunities. Submit questions to architect/engineer prior to bid. Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, etc. Send project information to suppliers and subcontractors for quotation. Prepare accurate and timely estimates for construction projects, considering factors such as materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor bids. Review all estimates with Lead Estimators to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation. Prepare outgoing and review incoming scope of work/bid letters. Experience Basic understanding of construction estimating principles and electrical systems gained through work experience, coursework or internship experience. Demonstrate ability to understand drawings and specifications, general contractor & subcontractor documents, materials, means, and methods. Familiarity with construction management processes, including site operations and contract administration. Hands-on experience with construction site activities or electrical installations is a plus. Strong communication skills for effective negotiation and collaboration with team members and clients. A foundational understanding of NEC standards, construction safety practices, and project management fundamentals is highly desirable. Prior experience as an electrical estimator or in a related role within the construction industry preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
