Tile & Stone Apprentice

POSITION SUMMARY

The Stone & Tile Apprentice supports the Lead Installer and installation crew in the preparation, layout, and installation of tile and stone surfaces. This role focuses on developing trade skills including jobsite preparation, material handling, mixing mortars and adhesives, tile cutting, and assisting with installation tasks. The apprentice plays a critical role in ensuring jobsite organization, material readiness, and installation support so projects can be completed safely, efficiently, and to Padilla Tile's quality standards. This position is ideal for someone seeking to learn the tile and stone trade through hands-on field experience and mentorship.

OBJECTIVES

Assist Lead Installer with jobsite preparation including surface cleaning, leveling, and layout setup. Safely transport and organize tile, stone, mortar, and installation materials. Mix mortar, thinset, grout, and adhesives according to manufacturer specifications. Support tile cutting and shaping using manual cutters and wet saws. Assist in tile placement and alignment under supervision. Maintain clean workspaces during and after installation activities. Properly stage materials and tools to support efficient project workflow. Follow all company safety procedures and jobsite safety protocols. Assist with demolition and removal of existing tile or flooring when required. Protect finished surfaces and surrounding areas during installation. Maintain tools and equipment and report maintenance needs. Demonstrate continuous improvement in installation techniques and trade skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED Previous construction or labor experience preferred Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools Interest in learning tile and stone installation as a career trade Valid driver's license preferred

Pay:

$17.50 - $25.00 per hour
