Job Description
Tile Installation Technician (Project-Based Opportunity ) As a Tile Installer, you'll transform residential and light commercial spaces through precision craftsmanship and high-quality finishes. You'll be responsible for delivering clean, durable, and visually flawless tile installations across floors, walls, backsplashes, and specialty applications. The role combines technical skill, attention to detail, and problem-solving to ensure each project meets structural requirements, design expectations, and long-term performance standards. This is a project-based role for an upcoming tile installation project , with the potential for additional work based on performance and future project needs. Performance Objectives (What Success Looks Like) Deliver high-quality tile installations across floors, walls, showers, and backsplashes that meet company standards for alignment, spacing, durability, and visual finish — with minimal callbacks or rework. Prepare surfaces to ensure long-term performance, including leveling, waterproofing, underlayment installation, and substrate correction — preventing cracking, shifting, or moisture-related failures. Execute precise layout and design alignment, including measuring, planning cuts, and maintaining consistent grout lines and patterns that match design intent and client expectations. Cut and install tile materials accurately and efficiently, including ceramic, porcelain, stone, and specialty materials, minimizing waste while maintaining clean edges and tight fits. Complete grout, sealing, and finishing work to a professional standard, ensuring durability, clean appearance, and proper curing for long-term use. Maintain clean and organized job sites, protecting surrounding areas, minimizing dust/debris, and leaving spaces move-in ready upon completion. Identify and solve field challenges proactively, such as uneven substrates, structural inconsistencies, or layout conflicts, ensuring clean solutions without compromising quality. Work efficiently to meet project timelines while maintaining craftsmanship standards — balancing speed with precision to support profitable job execution. Communicate clearly with team members and leadership, providing updates on progress, risks, and material needs to keep projects on track. Represent the company professionally on-site, demonstrating reliability, respect for client property, and pride in workmanship. Core Responsibilities (How It Gets Done) Measure, plan, and layout tile installations based on project specifications and design requirements Cut tile using wet saws, grinders, and hand tools for precise fits and clean edges Install tile using appropriate adhesives, spacers, and leveling systems Perform substrate prep including cement board, waterproofing membranes, and leveling compounds Apply grout, sealants, and finishing materials for durability and aesthetics • Inspect completed work to ensure alignment, consistency, and structural integrity • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials for efficient daily operation Qualifications Proven experience installing tile in residential or light commercial environments (floors, walls, showers, backsplashes) Strong understanding of surface prep, waterproofing, and tile-setting best practices Skilled with tile tools including wet saws, grinders, trowels, and leveling systems Ability to read layouts, measure accurately, and execute clean, symmetrical designs Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship — work must look high-end, not just functional Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability in real-world field conditions Ability to work on knees, lift materials (50+ lbs), and perform physically demanding tasks Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites Professional attitude and strong work ethic
