Full Job Description Flooring Specialist-Specialty Coatings Location:
Idaho Penington Painting Company (PPC) Penington Painting Company is seeking experienced Flooring Coating Specialists to join our union workforce . This position focuses on the installation of high-performance and chemical-resistant flooring coating systems in industrial and commercial environments. Position Type Union position Full-time + Overtime Project-based work (may include out-of-state travel depending on project needs) Job Responsibilities Install specialty flooring and chemical-resistant coating systems , including but not limited to: Epoxy Urethane Slurry Other high-performance industrial flooring systems Perform proper surface preparation , including grinding, shot blasting, and cleaning Follow manufacturer specifications , job specifications, and safety requirements Work safely around chemicals, coatings, and industrial materials Use appropriate PPE and follow all OSHA and site-specific safety protocols Work as part of a crew in industrial, commercial, and specialty environments Always maintain a clean and safe work area Work efficiently while meeting quality and production standards Qualifications Experience with flooring specialty coatings and/or chemical-resistant coating systems preferred Previous industrial or commercial coating experience a plus Ability to work in physically demanding environments (kneeling, lifting, standing for long periods) Willingness to work in confined spaces , high work, or industrial settings as required Must be able to comply with union requirements Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required Safety & Training OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred (or willingness to obtain) Ability to follow all safety training, site orientations, and PPE requirements Compensation & Benefits Union wages and benefits per collective bargaining agreement and
Project Labor Agreement Core Requirements:
Journeyman Status:
Verified completion of a union apprenticeship program (usually 3 years) through organizations like the Finishing Trades Institute of Idaho. Union to verify all Pre-journeyman statuses
Union Membership:
Active and in good standing with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT). Can Apply to IUPAT post PPC interview/on-boarding
Experience:
Several years of hands-on experience in commercial and industrial painting, including surface prep, masking, brushing, rolling, mixing, squeegee, and back rolling
Certifications:
OSHA 30-hour safety certification Respirator Fit Test Card Fall Protection and MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) training ?? Skills & Knowledge Ability to apply a wide range of coatings (slurries, epoxies, urethanes) Familiarity with industrial surface prep methods (e.g., sandblasting, power tool cleaning, grinding) Knowledge of safety protocols and hazardous material handling Testing & Evaluation Physical & Work Conditions Comfortable working at heights, on scaffolding, or in confined spaces Ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for long periods Willingness to work outdoors in Idaho's climate Must pass a drug test and F4D test and have a great attitude!
