Studio has been a staple in the Kansas City metro area creative event scene for over 20 years. Our creative team offers premier floral design services, with delivery, and provides a high-level client experience in local events, weddings, galas, and personal celebrations. Studio is known for elevated floral artistry, immersive environments, and timeless design. Our Event Installation and Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing the setup and breakdown of event equipment and infrastructure, ensuring everything is in place according to client specifications and safety standards. This role involves leading a team of installers, driving vehicles to transport equipment, and providing excellent customer service. Event Leads are responsible for loading and unloading event equipment from trucks or other vehicles and ensuring safe and efficient transport to and from the event venue. They oversee and participate in physically setting up and dismantling event equipment according to event diagrams and instructions while oftentimes motivating a team of installers, providing guidance and direction. Event Leads interact with both Sales Project Managers and clients to understand requirements and ensure client needs are met throughout the event. They address any issues or challenges that arise during the event setup or breakdown, resolving issues quickly and efficiently. In addition to on-site work, Event Leads are expected to work closely with the Sales and Production leadership team within the warehouse to maintain, prep, load, and deliver items; and the return of all gear, supplies, tools, and equipment to the warehouse. They are required to complete necessary paperwork and reports related to the event setup and equipment. While at the warehouse they must keep track of equipment, ensure it is properly stored, cleaned, and maintained, as well as ensure all equipment meets quality standards, and is properly functioning before the event. In essence, an Event Lead is a hands-on leader who plays a crucial role in the success of events by ensuring that pre and post project work is executed flawlessly and as directed by leadership.
STANDARD HOURS/WEEK
40 (approximate) with overtime as needed. Schedule will typically be Tuesday-Saturday during standard business hours; however, the schedule is largely dictated by client needs and will include evenings and late nights for event setups and tear-downs.
CLASSIFICATION
Full-time, non-exempt
TRAVEL:
Primarily local to event venues and client offices. Out of town travel is not expected to exceed 25%.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Versed in event elements like audiovisual equipment, furniture, tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, drape, hardware, and other décor. Able to follow instructions, both written and verbal, and work effectively as part of a team. Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as the ability to work long hours and handle the physical demands of event setup and takedown. Need to be detail-oriented to ensure accurate setup and takedown of equipment. Computer literate and comfortable using a computer for various tasks. Preferably proficient in Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite). Expertise in, and the ability to teach others, the proper use and care of hand and power tools with the knowledge of principles, techniques, methods, and equipment used in live events. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to be clear and concise via phone, email, and in person. Strong time management skills with adaptability to changing priorities, deadlines, and the ability to manage numerous concurrent projects. Possess good judgment, sensitivity, analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and problem solve. Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work enthusiastically with a wide range of individuals to foster productive partnerships and relationships, both internally and externally. Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty. Must be tenacious, flexible, and exhibit good humor under pressure. Able to safely load, unload, and transport event equipment using appropriate vehicles like box trucks and vans. Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record and reliable transportation required. Ability to safely operate and drive box trucks or other company vehicles to transport equipment and personnel to events in accordance with company policies. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the job summary above and meeting the physical requirements below.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Able to work steadily and physically for long periods of time. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your hands, arms and legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials for a prolonged period of time. A steady energy level and a calm demeanor Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. Able to operate hand and power tools. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs without assistance. Able to frequently climb and descend stairs and ladders and to work safely at heights. Able to perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires employees to work in a wide variety of work environments including in extreme heat and cold. Loud noises, both sustained and sudden, are common in some environments.
MATERIALS
Provide own smartphone capable of taking and sending pictures. A discounted phone plan is available after 60 days of employment. Provide own steel-toed shoes/boots, and replace as needed. Provide and maintain own tools except: power tools such as Hammer Drill, Porta-Band and hand tools such as Bolt Cutter, Cable Cutter/Crimper, Track Bender Offers of employment are contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
