Job Description

Flooring Apprentice Installer / Lead Installer — Now Hiring Experienced Trades Workers Atlas Flooring and Design LLC Raleigh, NC Job Details Full-time $20 - $30 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Paid time off Tools provided Qualifications Trim carpentry Drywall Power tools for woodworking Construction painting Residential construction English Driver's License Frame carpentry Working on construction projects Full Job Description Read this first: This job is for someone currently working in the construction trades — flooring, framing, finish carpentry, tile, drywall, painting, or similar hands-on residential work. If you have no construction background, please don't apply. We're not looking to train someone from scratch — we're looking for a real tradesperson who's underpaid, undervalued, or stuck at a shop with no growth path. If that's you, keep reading. Atlas Flooring & Design is a premium residential flooring company in Raleigh with a 5-star Google reputation. We install hardwood, LVP, laminate, and carpet inside homes people actually live in — not new construction, not high-production work. We take a lot of pride in doing it right, and we're looking for someone who already does the same. We're hiring one experienced trades worker to come in as an apprentice or lead installer (depending on flooring experience), working directly alongside the owner on every job. This is a W-2 hourly position with a clear path to Lead Installer. Who This Job Is For You're already in the construction trades. You're good with your hands, you read a tape measure to the 1/16th without thinking, and you know what clean finish work looks like.
You might be:
A flooring installer at another shop who's tired of being misclassified as 1099, not getting valued, or being treated like a number A finish carpenter, tile setter, or framer looking to specialize in flooring with a company that actually invests in you A skilled tradesperson who's stuck on high-volume new construction crews and wants to do quality residential work for a living A guy at the bottom of the totem pole at a big shop who wants a real path to running his own crew If you're hungry, skilled, and underpaid where you're at — we want to talk to you. Who This Job Is NOT For Career-changers with no hands-on construction experience Office workers looking to "try the trades" People who can't pass a background check Anyone who can't legally work in the US as a W-2 employee Anyone who doesn't want to commit long-term What You'll Be Doing You'll ride to each job in the company vehicle and work a two-person crew every day. All tools and company apparel are provided. The work is physical and detail-oriented — we're installing floors in clients' homes, so attention to detail is non-negotiable. You'll be trained on hardwood, LVP, laminate, and carpet over time. Requirements Currently or recently employed in construction trades (flooring, framing, finish carpentry, tile, drywall, painting, etc.) At least 1 year of hands-on construction experience Hands-on experience with table saw, miter/chop saw, circular saw, jigsaw, and standard hand tools Valid driver's license Must pass a background check Must speak English — you'll be communicating directly with clients in their homes Must have a Social Security number (legal W-2 hire only) Physically able to handle 40-50 hour work weeks of manual labor, Monday through Friday Looking for a long-term position (3+ years) Pay and Benefits $20-$30/hour starting, based on experience. More if you're coming in as an experienced lead installer. 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday Paid time off and paid holidays after 6 months Company vehicle, all tools, and company apparel provided Steady work year-round — we're busy in every season Growth Path This role transitions into a pay-for-performance structure once you're ready to run your own crew. Lead Installers at Atlas earn $80,000-$125,000/year. There's no cap on how fast you get there — it's based on your skill and consistency, not how long you've been here. The owner is on every job. You'll learn directly from someone who's been doing this for years and knows what high-end work looks like.
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour Application Question(s): Are you currently or have you been employed in the construction trades within the last 2 years? Do you have at least 1 year of hands-on construction experience? Do you have a valid driver's license? Are you legally authorized to work in the US with a Social Security number? Can you pass a background check? Are you looking for a long-term position (3+ years)?
