This role is part of the operations team, but supports operations and sales by providing technical guidance, job planning support, job costing and estimating, and practical solutions for complex or challenging cleaning projects. This position is responsible for helping the company identify the safest, most effective, and most efficient methods to perform cleaning work. The Technical Services Manager evaluates job conditions, recommends appropriate equipment, chemicals, staffing approaches, production methods, and work plans, and supports teams in developing accurate cost estimates and operational plans. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on cleaning industry experience, excellent technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with both field employees and management teams.

Night and day (Hours vary) -On call Primary Responsibilities Technical Cleaning Support
  • Provide expert technical advice to operations teams on complex or challenging cleaning assignments, including floor care, industrial cleaning, post-construction cleaning, detail cleaning, project work, and specialty janitorial services.
  • Evaluate cleaning challenges and recommend the most appropriate processes, tools, equipment, chemicals, staffing levels, and work methods.
  • Serve as a resource for questions related to cleaning methods, product selection, surface care, production rates, quality expectations, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist field teams in resolving cleaning problems that require technical evaluation, testing, or specialized knowledge.
  • Support the company in identifying best practices for cleaning procedures, safety, productivity, and quality. Job Assessment and Planning
  • Participate in site visits, walkthroughs, and job assessments for new work, special projects, complex service requests, and challenging client needs.
  • Help determine the correct scope of work, sequence of tasks, staffing needs, equipment requirements, chemical requirements, and estimated labor hours.
  • Develop practical work plans that allow jobs to be completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standard.
  • Identify site-specific concerns, including access limitations, surface conditions, safety hazards, chemical compatibility, equipment constraints, and scheduling requirements.
  • Support operations teams in preparing for project start-up, including crew instructions, equipment staging, supply planning, and workflow coordination. Costing and Estimating Support
  • Provide job costing and estimating for specialty cleaning, floor care, industrial cleaning, periodic work, and other non-routine cleaning projects.
  • Provide input on labor hours, production rates, equipment needs, chemical usage, disposal needs, travel considerations, and other cost factors.
  • Help ensure estimates are realistic, competitive, and operationally achievable.
  • Work with sales, account management, and operations to translate job requirements into clear cost assumptions and practical service plans.
  • Support post-job reviews to compare estimated hours and costs against actual performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Equipment, Chemical, and Process Recommendations
  • Recommend appropriate cleaning equipment, tools, chemicals, supplies, and methods for specific cleaning conditions and surfaces.
  • Evaluate new products, equipment, and technologies that may improve productivity, quality, safety, or cost efficiency.
  • Provide guidance on proper chemical use, dilution, compatibility, dwell time, personal protective equipment, and safe work practices.
  • Assist with standardizing preferred equipment, chemical systems, and work methods where appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices, manufacturer recommendations, and evolving cleaning technologies. Quality, Safety, and Continuous Improvement
  • Support quality control efforts by helping identify root causes of recurring cleaning deficiencies or process failures.
  • Recommend corrective actions when cleaning results do not meet company or client expectations.
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure recommendations are aligned with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, SDS guidance, and manufacturer instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, improve quality, and strengthen client satisfaction.
  • Help build a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties The Technical Services Manager will be expected to: Conduct job site assessments for cleaning and specialty service needs. Provide technical recommendations for complex cleaning work. Assist with estimating labor, equipment, chemical, and supply costs. Develop efficient and safe work plans for field execution. Support operations teams before, during, and after challenging cleaning jobs. Recommend appropriate equipment, tools, chemicals, and staffing approaches. Troubleshoot cleaning problems and recommend corrective actions. Train and coach field teams on cleaning procedures and best practices. Support sales and account management with technical input when needed. Document processes, recommendations, and lessons learned. Maintain knowledge of current cleaning methods, floor care systems, equipment, and safety practices. Required Qualifications 1 -2 years of significant hands-on experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial services, floor care, industrial cleaning, or building services. Strong working knowledge of floor care processes, including stripping, scrubbing, recoating, burnishing, carpet care, concrete care, and specialty floor maintenance. Five or more years of experience in commercial cleaning operations, floor care, industrial cleaning, or specialty cleaning services. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, tools, and supplies. Ability to assess job conditions and recommend practical cleaning solutions. Experience estimating labor hours, production rates, equipment needs, and job costs. Strong understanding of safe chemical handling, SDS requirements, PPE, and basic OSHA safety practices. Ability to communicate clearly with managers, supervisors, frontline employees, clients, and vendors. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and travel to client sites as needed. Strong computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, and documentation. Clean driving record Bilingual Can pass a background Drivers License and reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as an operations manager, project manager. Experience supporting sales teams with site surveys, estimates, or technical proposals. Familiarity with ISSA, BSCAI, CMI, IICRC, OSHA, or manufacturer-based cleaning standards. Certifications in floor care, carpet cleaning, hard surface care, safety, or cleaning management. Experience creating SOPs, training guides, checklists, or work plans. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus.
