POSITION SUMMARY
We are recruiting a Moving & Setup Specialist to support campus operations by providing moving, furniture setup, and event preparation services across university facilities. This non-supervisory role is responsible for the safe transport, assembly, arrangement, and reset of furniture and equipment in offices, classrooms, residence halls, and event spaces. The Moving & Setup Specialist plays a key role in ensuring campus environments are clean, functional, and ready for daily use and special events, supporting a safe and well-maintained campus for students, faculty, and staff.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Transport furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials safely between campus buildings and locations Set up, arrange, and break down tables, chairs, staging, podiums, and other event furnishings Prepare and reset classrooms, conference rooms, offices, and event spaces according to work orders, diagrams, or instructions Assist with campus moves for offices, departments, classrooms, and special events Ensure all furniture and equipment is properly assembled, secured, and positioned according to safety and operational standards Support event setup and breakdown for meetings, campus activities, and special functions Follow safe lifting, moving, and handling procedures at all times Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and storage spaces Respond to changing priorities and assist with additional facilities support tasks as needed Work collaboratively with team members and campus staff to ensure timely completion of assignments Operate basic hand tools and moving equipment safely when required Perform duties in indoor and outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions Adhere to university safety policies and procedures during all tasks
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred Experience in moving, warehouse operations, facilities support, custodial work, or event setup preferred Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects regularly (up to 50 lbs; heavier items with assistance or equipment) Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand tools Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately Strong time management, communication, and customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends for campus events
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing Regular exposure to indoor and outdoor environments and changing weather conditions Ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends for campus events Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
