Job Description

Flooring Installer Helper (Commercial Construction) Job Description This role supports Journeyman flooring crews with the preparation and installation of commercial flooring on a variety of construction projects. You assist with installing different types of commercial flooring and a significant amount of rubber base trim, while contributing to safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. Responsibilities Assist Journeyman flooring crews with the preparation and installation of commercial flooring on small and large commercial construction projects. Install a substantial amount of rubber base trim and other types of base trim as directed by Journeyman installers. Utilize construction knowledge to support flooring and base trim installation across a range of commercial environments. Measure materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure precise cuts and proper fit of flooring and trim. Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively to cut, shape, and install flooring materials and base trim. Help prepare work areas, including cleaning, leveling, and staging materials for flooring installation. Follow directions from Journeyman installers and site leadership to complete tasks on schedule and to quality standards. Support the team with general commercial construction tasks related to flooring projects as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all site safety rules and procedures. Transport, load, and unload flooring materials, tools, and equipment as required for each project. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in flooring installation or closely related flooring work. At least 2 years of experience in general commercial construction. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately and efficiently. Knowledge and hands-on experience using common hand tools and power tools in a construction environment. Practical understanding of commercial construction practices related to flooring and trim. Ability to work effectively as part of a flooring crew and follow instructions from Journeyman installers. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements, cuts, and installations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience installing commercial flooring materials such as tile, carpet, or other resilient flooring. Background in tiling or tile setting within commercial construction projects. Familiarity with installing various types of base trim, including rubber base trim. Demonstrated reliability and consistency working on construction sites. Willingness to learn and develop skills under the guidance of experienced Journeyman flooring professionals. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work as part of a team on small to large commercial construction projects, supporting flooring installations across different types of commercial facilities. The role is field-based on active construction sites, where you regularly use hand tools and power tools and handle flooring materials and rubber base trim. You follow site-specific safety guidelines and adapt to varying project conditions, including different building types and stages of construction. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
