We are seeking a Glass Cut Table Lead Operator to join our team in Des Moines, IA. Glass cutting involves the breaking out and racking of glass from an automated cutting system. Occasional custom hand cutting will be required. This is a fast passed, near constant movement position. Will also work with other departments as needed and performs all other duties as assigned. This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Glass Department Supervisor requiring 40+ Hours a week. Typical cut table schedule is approximately Monday to Friday, 4am-2:30pm with overtime as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Operate and train others to operate specific machines and equipment. Oversee overall production on dual cut table machines. Report problems, accidents, and activity to the Foreman. Maintain equipment. Evaluate performance and provide feedback. Approve or disapprove time off request forms. Ensure others are wearing all required PPE.

Duties/Responsibilities :

Operate machinery, this includes control power, automated retrieval system, and automated glass cutting tables. Organize priorities for daily production of glass cutting tables. Responsible for utilizing glass racking systems. Understand quality requirements for glass. Conduct meticulous quality checks on finished products. Precisely handle glass to ensure safety & quality. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Communicate with departments to complete re-cuts. Wear proper safety equipment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Advanced organizational skills to properly plan daily activity and optimize cut table run times. Ability to use specialized computer systems. Ability to adapt to changing production priorities. Be able to read a tape measure. Be able to read English and do basic math. Must have intermediate computer skills. Be able to properly utilize hand tools. Must work well on a team.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) 2+ years Glass Cutting Experience (Preferred) 2+ years

Leadership Experience Physical Requirements:

Be able to carry and rotate up to 50 lbs for 10-30 feet frequently Be able to carry and rotate up to 95 lbs for 10-30 feet occasionally Be able to team lift glass greater than 95lbs Be able to stand or walk up to 12 hours a day Be able to walk, reach forward, and have bilateral hand coordination frequently Must wear all required
