Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Sheet Metal Installer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing ductwork and chassis parts for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You will work on both commercial and residential projects, ensuring all installations meet local building codes, safety standards, and project specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with various hand and power tools, and possesses a strong understanding of mechanical blueprints.
Key Responsibilities Installation:
Lay out, measure, assemble, and install various types of ductwork (including galvanized iron, spiral, and flexible ducting) and HVAC equipment.
Fabrication:
Form and shape sheet metal using shop equipment (brakes, shears, rollers) or make on-site modifications to fit custom spaces.
Blueprint Reading:
Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, architectural drawings, and structural specifications to determine the optimal layout for duct systems.
System Testing:
Check systems for air leaks and structural integrity using pressure testing equipment; make adjustments to ensure optimal airflow and system efficiency.
Collaboration:
Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and other trades (electricians, plumbers) to ensure a seamless installation process.
Safety compliance:
Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to all OSHA safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Required Qualifications & Skills Experience:
2+ years of experience as an HVAC sheet metal installer or apprentice (commercial experience preferred).
Technical Skill:
Proficiency with sheet metal tools (snips, riveters, crimpers, drills, and bending brakes).
Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work on scaffolding, and operate in tight or cramped spaces (crawlspaces, attics) for extended periods.
Blueprint Literacy:
Strong ability to read and execute layouts from mechanical blueprints.
Mathematics:
Basic math skills for taking accurate measurements and calculating angles/dimensions on-site.
License:
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to various job sites. Preferred Qualifications EPA Section 608 Certification (a plus, but not required for pure layout/installation). OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification. Completion of a sheet metal apprenticeship program or trade school certification.
Work Environment & Benefits Environment:
Varies between indoor and outdoor construction environments. Must be comfortable working in fluctuating weather conditions and at various heights.
Pay:
$35.00 - $50.00 per hour
