Job Description
Position Summary:
Tin-Mar, Inc. is seeking an experienced Class A Welder/Fitter to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This position is responsible for fitting and welding steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components to meet precise quality and specification requirements in support of defense, aerospace, and government contract work. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality welds, works with a high degree of independence, and thrives in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment.Responsibilities:
Fit and weld components using TIG and MIG processes on steel, aluminum, and stainless steel Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and weld symbols to determine welding requirements and joint configurations Produce welds that meet or exceed applicable code and customer specification requirements Perform fit-up, tacking, and final welding on fabricated assemblies Inspect own work for dimensional accuracy and weld quality prior to QC inspection Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with shop safety policies Work efficiently with minimal supervision while upholding quality and production standards Participate in weld qualification testing and maintain active certifications as requiredRequired Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a ClassA TIG/MIG
welder Proven ability to submit test specimens and successfully obtain or maintain certifications to one or more of the following:AWS D1.1
(Structural Steel)AWS D1.2
(Structural Aluminum)AWS D1.6
(Structural Stainless Steel) ASME SectionIX / AWS D9.1
(Sheet Metal), if applicableAWS D17.1
(Aerospace Fusion Welding) Strong blueprint reading and fabrication skills Proficiency with hand tools, layout, and basic shop math Ability to work independently and meet production deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a defense, aerospace, or government contract manufacturing environment Familiarity with weld inspection criteria and quality documentation Experience reading and working from travelers or work ordersPhysical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs Prolonged standing, bending, and working in various positions Must be able to work in a shop environment with exposure to heat, fumes, and loud noiseSchedule:
Monday- Thursday (7:00 AM
- 5:30 PM) Overtime available as needed based on production demands
