Job Description

Skillforce is currently hiring experienced Certified Welders for immediate and upcoming projects in Orlando, FL. Pay is up to $30 an hour based on experience and skillset. Certified welders will fabricate, modify, and install stainless steel kitchen exhaust hoods and ventilation systems for a high-traffic restaurant within a local theme park. The ideal candidate has expertise in TIG/MIG welding, a strict understanding of commercial kitchen fire and safety codes, and the ability to work in fast-paced commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities Welding & Fabrication:
Cut, fit, and weld stainless steel and galvanized metal to fabricate, repair, or modify commercial kitchen hoods, grease ducts, and exhaust systems.
Blueprint Reading:
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and architectural drawings to ensure exact measurements and compliance with project specifications.
Code Compliance:
Ensure all welds meet local health, fire safety, and NFPA 96 codes for commercial kitchen ventilation.
On-Site Installation:
Perform precise installation and assembly of metal structures on-site within the restaurant, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Safety & PPE:
Adhere to strict safety guidelines, including the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean, hazard-free workspace in a dining/hospitality environment.
Required Qualifications Certification:
Active Certified Welder designation (e.g., AWS certification in SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW) required.
Experience:
5+ years of professional welding experience, specifically with stainless steel and light-gauge metals. Commercial kitchen hood or restaurant HVAC ductwork experience is highly preferred.
Theme Park Access:
Must be able to pass background checks and obtain necessary credentials/clearances for working within theme park security parameters.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), and work in confined spaces, overhead positions, or at elevated heights.
