Operations Manager Compensation:
Hourly (based on experience) + overtime eligible; benefits eligible (details below) Role Summary You'll install commercial kitchen hoods, grease ducts, make-up air, and exhaust fans in restaurants and commercial kitchens. Work includes site prep, rigging and hanging hoods, setting curbs & fans, routing/fastening ducts, sealing/insulating, and supporting inspections. Safety, code compliance (IMC/NFPA 96), and first-time quality are non-negotiable. Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Quality Safely rig, lift, and set Type I/Type II hoods; level, anchor, and seal per spec. Assemble/secure grease duct & MUA duct (hangars, clearances, pitch/slope, access panels). Set roof curbs, fans, and penetrations; weatherproofing/flashings; coordinate with roofing/GC. Install make-up air units, fire-wrap/insulation systems, and accessories (lights, filters, grease rails). Field-measure, mark, and cut openings; protect finishes; maintain clean work areas. Read plans, specs, and cut sheets; verify dimensions; escalate conflicts/RFIs early. Perform start-up support with foreman/technicians (rotation, airflow checks as directed). Complete punch lists quickly with high craftsmanship. Safety & Compliance Follow OSHA, company safety rules, and site-specific policies (PPE, LOTO, fall protection). Maintain ladder/aerial-lift safety; secure work zones; housekeeping at all times. Build to
IMC & NFPA 96
requirements (clearances, access, fire safety, grease containment). Document work with photos; assist with inspection readiness. Coordination & Communication Receive/verify materials; report shortages/damages immediately. Communicate site conditions, delays, and change needs to Foreman/PM. Respect the customer's space (restaurants/hospitals/schools) and minimize disruption. Complete daily reports (hours, progress, photos) as directed. Minimum Qualifications 2+ years construction experience; HVAC/Sheet Metal/Hood install preferred. Able to read a tape, use levels/lasers, and interpret basic construction drawings. Proficient with hand/power tools; able to safely use lifts and ladders (training provided). Valid driver's license; reliable transportation; ability to pass background/drug screen. Comfortable working at heights and on roofs in variable weather. Preferred/"Nice to Have" Commercial kitchen hood or grease duct experience. OSHA-10 (or willingness to earn within 60 days), Aerial Lift/Scissor Lift card, Fall-Protection training. Basic fabrication skills (cutting, fastening, sealing); light welding experience a plus. Familiarity with NFPA 96 and local code/inspection process. Tools & Working Conditions Company provides major tools/lifts; you bring a basic hand-tool set (hammer, levels, bits, drill/driver, snips, sockets, measuring tools). Frequent lifting 50-75 lbs , climbing, kneeling, roof work, and confined spaces as needed. Occasional night/weekend work for live restaurants; overtime during peak periods. Schedule & Travel Full-time, primarily Monday-Friday; early starts common. Local travel across greater Indianapolis and surrounding markets; occasional regional work. Career Path Installer → Lead Installer/Foreman → Site Superintendent (Leadership opportunities available as we grow.) 30-60-90 Day PlanFirst 30 Days Complete safety onboarding (OSHA-10 if needed), lift/fall-protection training. Learn our SOPs, photo standards, and daily reporting. Assist on 2-3 active projects; demonstrate safe rigging and hood hanging basics. 60 Days Independently execute core tasks (setting curbs/fans, duct routing, sealing). Own daily JHA and photo documentation; hit schedule targets on assigned tasks. Pass internal quality checks on at least 2 consecutive jobs. 90 Days Run small installs or a defined work area on larger projects with minimal supervision. Hit KPI thresholds for first-time quality and inspection pass rate. Mentor a new helper; be eligible for Lead Installer track.
