Job Title:
Technician (Polish Team) Job Description This role focuses on preparing commercial and retail facility flooring for concrete resurfacing and polished concrete finishes. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to grind, polish, and repair concrete surfaces, ensuring a high-quality result that meets safety and performance standards. The position is physically demanding, involves frequent kneeling and manual work, and requires regular travel for project-based assignments. Responsibilities Prepare commercial and retail facility flooring for concrete resurfacing and polishing according to project specifications. Operate hand tools and power tools to grind and smooth concrete surfaces in preparation for coatings or polishing. Use diamatic grinders, polishing machines, and caulking tools to repair and restore cracks and imperfections in concrete surfaces before final preparation. Perform detailed hand work while frequently working on bent knees to ensure thorough surface preparation and finishing. Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the workday. Follow established safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure to dust, fumes, and noise. Work collaboratively with team members in close proximity to other workers and equipment on active job sites. Travel to various job locations, including overnight stays, and work 10-12 hour days while on the road to complete projects efficiently. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, safe, and good working condition. Adhere to project schedules, including occasional overtime and weekend work, to meet customer and project deadlines. Essential Skills Experience working with concrete flooring, including grinding, polishing, or resurfacing. Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools in a construction, flooring, or similar labor-intensive environment. Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working on bent knees for extended periods. Experience in construction, general labor, heavy lifting, or outdoor work environments. Comfort working in dusty, noisy environments while following safety procedures. Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time, including overnight stays, and work 10-12 hour days while traveling. Reliability in adhering to scheduled shifts, including a typical 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday schedule with occasional Saturdays as needed. Commitment to wearing and properly using required PPE such as steel-toe boots, hard hats, and respirators when necessary. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in epoxy flooring, polished concrete, or similar flooring systems. Familiarity with diamatic grinders, polishing machines, and caulking tools. Experience working on commercial or retail construction sites. Ability to adapt to alternating periods of 3-4 weeks of travel followed by 3-4 weeks of local work. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow direction in a fast-paced, project-based environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a field-based, physically demanding role that involves working primarily on active commercial and retail job sites. The standard shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work when needed. The position requires approximately 50% overnight travel and 50% local work, typically structured as 3-4 weeks on the road followed by 3-4 weeks working locally. While traveling, you will work 10-12 hour days, with paid lodging and a daily per diem provided for overnight stays. The work involves grinding and polishing concrete, which can produce significant dust and noise, and may involve exposure to fumes. Safety is a priority, and you must follow all safety guidelines and use PPE, including steel-toe boots, a hard hat (provided), and a respirator when required (provided). You will work in close proximity to other workers and equipment, and occasional overtime and weekend hours may be needed to meet project deadlines. The dress code includes steel-toe boots, jeans without holes, and high-visibility shirts in bright colors for safety and visibility on site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westfield, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
