Our client supports projects such as marine structures, foundations, and heavy civil works, offering both standard and custom steel solutions. They focus on safety, reliability, and on-time delivery to help clients complete complex projects efficiently. Team members work in a hands-on, industrial environment where quality workmanship and attention to detail are highly valued. Our client encourages a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth in the field of steel fabrication. The ideal employee will read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols to fit and assemble structural steel components. Daily tasks include laying out, cutting, grinding, and positioning steel sections, performing structural welding (e.g., FCAW, MIG) in various positions, and verifying dimensions and alignment using appropriate measuring tools. The role involves operating basic fabrication equipment, following shop safety procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and collaborating with supervisors and coworkers to meet project deadlines and quality standards. The Structural Fitter / Structural Welder will also inspect completed work for defects, perform minor repairs or rework as needed, and complete any required production or quality documentation. Qualifications Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and work orders, with strong basic math and measurement skills. Proficiency in structural fitting, including layout, cutting, beveling, and aligning steel members using appropriate tools and jigs. Proficiency in structural welding processes such as FCAW and/or MIG, with the ability to produce sound welds in multiple positions. Experience using hand and power tools (grinders, torches, clamps, measuring tools) and basic shop equipment in a fabrication environment. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including use of PPE, safe material handling, and adherence to company safety procedures. Attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and capacity to meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move materials as required, and work in an industrial shop environment. Previous experience in structural steel fabrication, shipyard, or heavy industrial settings is preferred; relevant welding certifications are a plus. We offer daily per diem if traveling over 100 miles. AM PM Staffing/TALCO Workforce offers supplemental health, dental & vision insurance that meet Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) requirements.
