Job Summary:
The Metal Fabricator (CNC) is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to fabricate precision metal components. This role combines hands-on fabrication skills with knowledge of CNC programming and machine operation to produce parts that meet quality, safety, and production standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Set up and operate CNC equipment (laser, plasma, punch, press brake, tube bending) 2. Interpret blueprints, and work orders 3. Select proper tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job 4. Perform basic CNC programming or edits 5. Monitor machine operations to ensure parts meet specifications 6. Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other tools 7. Perform secondary fabrication processes (deburring, grinding) 8. Troubleshoot minor machine or quality issues and adjust as required 9. Maintain equipment and execute daily PM requirements 10. Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area (5S) Quality & Safety Effectively assess projects ensuring work can be done safely prior to performing the work Ensure workmanship meets customer quality expectations (align to the print) Participate in root cause analysis for recurring defects or failures Support continuous improvement initiatives Forklift and overhead crane experience Qualifications Required 1. High school diploma or GED required 2. 2+ years of CNC machining or metal fabrication experience 3. Experience with CNC controls 4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T (preferred) 5. Basic understanding of metal properties and fabrication processes Knowledge of fabrication defects and repair techniques Strong attention to detail, safety and quality Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Good communication skills and ability to interact with coworkers professionally Strong willingness to learn Preferred Experience in a production setting Familiarity with lean manufacturing process improvement
