Job Description

Structural Welder Briese Iron Works -
Rochester, MN Job Summary:
Responsible for welding structural steel effectively and efficiently in order to build steel structures. Welds, cuts steel, operates grinders, drills as well as performing various other fabrication functions. This is a full-time position working 5 - ten hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Overtime is paid out after 40 hours.
Position Reports To:
The Director of Production and/or the Department Leader.
Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Build, and fabricate beams, columns, girders, and other members to form buildings and other steel structures. Cut, position, and weld members meeting AISC, AWS, and Briese Iron Works standards. Operate bridge cranes to move steel and other materials around the fabrication shop. Mark steel in accordance with AISC standards. Read a tape measure down to 1/16" increments. Perform other duties as assigned.
Specific Skills:
Maintain a neat and organized work station. Ability to weld using FCAW and GMAW processes. Ability to operate an Oxy/Acetylene cutting torch. Ability to operate a manual plasma cutter. Promote a positive working environment to achieve company goals.
Education/Experience/ Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required. Must be able to pass a 2G horizontal welding test. Must be able to read details/prints and understand weld symbols. Must be able to add/subtract fractions. Must have valid driver's license Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
Walking Standing Bending Squatting Push/Pull Lift 60lbs
Wages:
Training Period (90 Days), $25/hr After 90 days you will be evaluated and promoted to skill level 1 through 4 based on skill and knowledge level. Level 1, $26.00/hr Level 2, $27.00/hr Level 3, $28.00/hr Level 4, $29.00/hr Master, $32.00 /hr (4 years minimum service at Briese Iron Works required) Reviews occur annually (or less) to re-evaluate skill level, so you are able to advance quickly if you master the core skills of each level.
