JOB SUMMARY
The Restorative Care Technician at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for providing patient care and mobility tasks within patient care units under the supervision of a registered nurse. They maintain patient records, ensure adequate supplies and equipment for patient care, and prioritize patient needs while promoting a safe patient and staff environment. The role involves frequent patient care activities, including lifting and transferring patients with limited weight-bearing capability.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Patient Care:
Performs assigned patient care and mobility tasks within patient care units under the supervision of a registered nurse. Make rounds on assigned unit(s) and coordinates patient care and mobility activities with registered nurse and therapist as appropriate.
Documentation:
Maintains patient activity assignment sheet. Documents patient care and mobility activities in the patient record. Performs additional documentation as appropriate or assigned.
Activities of Daily Living:
Performs assigned tasks as appropriate to meet personal and comfort needs of patients.
Equipment/Supply Utilization:
Maintains necessary supplies and equipment to promote patient care and mobility activities. Cleans equipment as appropriate between patient use. Notifies supervisor of patient supply and equipment needs and gives an adequate account of equipment an supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or GED. Required Licenses and Certifications CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Work Experience 1-3 years Knowledge Skills and Abilities Maintains functional knowledge of equipment common to the unit. Utilizes and cares for equipment on nursing unit. Must meet continuing education requirements, including unit specific competencies. Maintains knowledge and resources necessary to provide appropriate care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Must be able to recognize changes in patient condition and report appropriately. Must complete role specific orientation, including 40 hours of rehab content. Must complete MIS training. Must be able to demonstrate passive and active range of motion. Must work side-by-side with
PT, OT, ST
upon evaluation of patient's ability/needs. Must show knowledge of skills training with eating, transferring, toileting, and mobility. Must be able to prioritize patient care, carry out assigned duties, report and/or document same. Must be able to report changes in patient's condition which may impair ability to participate in mobility activities. Assumes additional appropriate duties as delegated or needed. Must have the capacity to function without direct supervision. Communicates and coordinates patient activities with nursing and therapy staff. Must project positive image of NMMC and nursing unit to all customers. Promotes harmony on unit and with other departments. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills. Aware of cultural diversity; interacts appropriately with patient, family and others.
