Job Summary:
The Shop Technician is responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling structural and custom products and components in the Badlands shop. Duties & Responsibilities Perform MIG/Stick welding on carbon steel Fabricate products from provided drawings or verbal instructions Operate shop equipment such as: Hydraulic Bandsaw, Plasma Table, Grinder, Drill Press, Telehandler, and Skidsteer Perform layout and measurement tasks to ensure proper fit on pipe and structural steel prior to welding Maintain a clean work area in compliance with company policy and OSHA standards Read or interpret basic engineered drawings As needed Tasks (to include but not limited to): Assist with loading and unloading of deliveries to and from the shop Assist with installation of fabricated products in the field Support welders with material and/or pipefitting Required Skills & Abilities Proficient in MIG welding Ability to read prints/drawings Knowledge of pipefitting measurements Experience in a fabrication shop and its equipment Experienced running a forklift, telehandler, skidsteer, or similar equipment Education & Experience Basic High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Valid Driver's License Physical Requirements The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job (but are not limited to). The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time, unassisted. The incumbent must wear a respirator when required. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate industrial machinery are required. This job also requires full range of body motion to include handling and lifting. The incumbent must repeatedly lift and/or move up to 65 (SIXTY-FIVE) pounds unassisted. Visual acuity, hearing, speaking, reading, and writing must be adequate to perform all required tasks in a safe manner. Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is usually done outdoors and sometimes at a client facility or job site and is frequently performed in inclement and/or extreme weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to moving electricity, mechanical parts, vehicles, equipment, and hazardous materials. This position regularly requires long work hours and frequent weekend work.
