- Carmel, NY Full-Time | Competitive Pay Based on Experience | Overtime Available Join a Team That Builds, Repairs, and Solves the Tough Jobs Stronghold Mechanical is seeking an experienced technician to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, can work independently, and has extensive experience in heavy equipment repair, structural fabrication, machining, and welding. Responsibilities Lead fabrication projects from layout through final assembly. Perform MIG, Stick, TIG and Flux-Core welding on heavy equipment, trucks, and structural steel. Repair cracked and worn heavy equipment components, including buckets, booms, frames, and attachments. Fabricate replacement parts and custom components from drawings or field measurements. Operate machining equipment including manual mills, lathes, drill presses, ironworkers, and band saws. Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols. Perform fit-up, cutting, grinding, gouging, and finishing operations. Ensure projects meet Stronghold's quality and safety standards. Mentor and assist less experienced fabricators as needed. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of welding and fabrication experience (required). Experience repairing and fabricating heavy equipment components. Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and welding procedures. Experience operating manual machining equipment. Ability to fabricate with minimal supervision. Ability to read blueprints and perform accurate layout work. Valid driver's license. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
