Laborer - Steel Fabrication

STS Steel, Inc., located in New York, is currently seeking to fill 1 Laborer position. The ideal candidate are self-motivated, detail oriented and organized. The individuals must understand the potential dangers of working in a complex / busy shop environment working around large pieces of steel and therefore must follow all safety guidelines. For this role you must have the ability to lift heavy materials and tools (up to 50 pounds). Your experience is preferably in either roofing, construction, farming, handyperson, or have mechanical abilities. Responsibilities:

• Use hand tools and power tools to prepare materials for fabrication (drilling, grinding, cutting).
• May handle materials, assist skilled workers, perform basic construction tasks, and ensure safety compliance.
• Duties may include cleaning, loading/unloading, and following instructions.

-Organizing and cleaning shop:

replacing tools to proper locations, winding up cords, etc. - Pre-heating welding equipment.

• Lawn care (mowing, trimming).
• Occasionally run out for supplies (use of your own vehicle, valid driver's license needed).

• Be able to work in a team environment with a good attitude toward one's co-workers and supervisors.
• Follow company safety protocols.
• Roll up your sleeves and get dirty at times.
• Must be willing to work outside in winter and summer.
• Have reliable transportation and driver's license.
• Ability to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to pass a per-employment drug screening, and random drug tests.
• Ability to complete assigned task efficiently and follow basic directions.
• Able to conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks for long hours and in extreme environmental conditions.
