Join our Adult Medicaid Team as an Eligibility Caseworker II and help individuals and families access the essential healthcare resources they need to live healthier, more stable lives. As an Eligibility Caseworker II, you will play a vital role in ensuring that community members receive the support they deserve. You'll determine eligibility for Medicaid by reviewing factors such as income, family size, medical information, evaluations, resources, and other essential criteria. Using NCFAST (our case management system) and OnBase (our document management system). This hybrid role allows you to work 50% in‑office and 50% virtually, offering both flexibility and connection.
What You'll Do:
Complete assessments and determine ongoing eligibility for Medicaid Evaluate individuals and families for other Economic Services programs Enter accurate data into state systems to authorize benefits Connect households with community resources when additional support is needed Stay current on policies and procedures through ongoing training Provide backup support to fellow Eligibility Caseworkers as needed Maintain organized, thorough documentation using our document management systems If you're detail‑oriented, compassionate, and committed to helping others, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) High school degree or GED Three years of job-related experience Equivalent education and experience are accepted Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume. Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Experience determining eligibility for a State or County Department of Social Services program (Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Work First, Child Care Subsidy, Child Support, WIC or Energy Assistance Program) Experience in a Human Services Technician role supporting any Human Services program in a county or state Department of Human Services or Social Services agency Experience determining eligibility for a Financial or Insurance Provider for financial assistance or insurance claims Experience assessing the financial capabilities and need for financial assistance Financial Counseling) Direct clerical or customer services experience providing support to a Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Work First, or Child Care Subsidy Program within a State or County Department of Social Services Experience working with the homeless population Spanish language skills How Will We Know You're 'The One'? You'll be able to identify issues, gather and compare data from multiple sources, and recommend solutions. Interpret and apply Adult Medicaid policies, including updates. Build and maintain strong client relationships; respond to individual needs. Present information clearly in writing and verbally to ensure understanding. Complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Manage time effectively to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently. Apply complex policy rules to determine client budgets accurately. Demonstrate excellent customer service and respect for client diversity. Use required office technology and systems, including Microsoft Office, NC FAST, and Hyland OnBase.
