Jack's Ornamental Iron, a trusted name in steel solutions for stairs, landings, light structural pieces: beams and columns, and canopies/awnings on commercial and multi-unit projects, is looking for a detail-driven, reliable Commercial Ornamental Steel Installer to join our organization. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in welding, measuring materials and reading blueprints and ready to start in the field. The successful candidate must be capable of working in a variety of conditions, lifting up to 100lbs and have experience in measuring and reading blueprints. This 4-day-a-week role (10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday) is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on setting and isn't afraid to get dirty to get the job done. The Roles & Responsibilities of this position include: Measuring and preparing materials for each project Performing all activities related to the installation of steel columns, beams, staircases, guardrails, handrails, fencing, gates, ladders, canopies Operating and maintaining tools and equipment Completing all paperwork related to installations for each project The Skillsets & Qualifications for this job include: 1+ years' experience of construction site field work 1+ years experience interpreting simple shop drawings showing fabrication requirements, layout and procedures 1+ years' experience welding on the job site 1+ years' experience operating a forklift and saw (preferred, not required) Knowledge of structural steel, ornamental iron or other related fields MIG welding proficiency 2G and 3G; Jack's offers opportunities for 2G, 3G, and 4G D1.1 weld certifications Experience adhering to safety procedures and practices Ability to operate drills, impact wrenches, level and other installation tools and equipment Capable of physically lifting 100 lbs or more Capable of carrying supplies up and down stairs Familiarity with PPE (personal protection equipment) Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions inside and outside Self-motivated, dependable, with strong problem-solving and communication skills Valid Driver's license and clean driving record for driving company vehicles from Jack's to assigned job sites Drug test required as condition of employment Proper PPE (personal protective equipment) including, safety toe rated footwear, non flammable clothing, pants and long sleeved clothing required for daily work The Ideal Candidate will possess the following characteristics Hunger to learn, grow, and achieve daily Humility to put the team first Socially smart to be able to engage with other team members professionally Proactive problem-solver with a strong "can-do" attitude Reliable, dependable, and driven by a solid work ethic Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality Curious and willing to ask questions to ensure project success Thrives under pressure and manages time well Team player who's open to learning from others Self-starter who works independently and believes in a hard day's work Believes in
Safety First Customer Service Oriented Schedule:
Full-time - 4 x 10 hrs/day; Monday thru
Thursday Shift:
6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m Some overtime in busy seasons on Fridays; no weekend hours
Compensation:
