DESCRIPTION

Hutco, Inc. is currently seeking experienced Sheet Metal Workers to join our team in Newport News, Virginia. This role involves the installation of foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and general sheet metal fabrication. Candidates with marine experience are preferred; however, experience in aircraft, industrial, ormercial sheet metal work is also acceptable.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience & Skills:

Blueprint Reading:

Ability to read and interpretplex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, and datum/reference lines.

Measurement Proficiency:

Competency in understanding fractional and decimal dimensions with a ruler.

Fabrication & Assembly:

Skilled in laying out, fabricating, and assembling sheet metal parts per specifications.

Physical Demand:

Experience working in physically demanding environments.

Tool Proficiency:

Familiarity with hand tools (electric drills, grinders, rivet guns) and shop equipment (drill press, press brake, shears).

OSHA Compliance:

Knowledge of OSHA regulations as they apply to the shipbuilding industry.

Optional Skills:

Rigger/Material Handling experience. Familiarity with Mobile Equipment (e.g., JLG, Scissor Lift).

Additional Requirements:

Physical Demands:

Role requires physical stamina, with potential exposure to temperature and humidity extremes.

Working Conditions:

Compliance with all Newport News PPE standards and safe work practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interpreting detailed ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches for accurate layout and fabrication. Using small hand tools and shop equipment toplete fabrication and assembly tasks. Following all safety protocols and ensuring PPEpliance. Operating in a collaborative environment, maintaining productivity in physically demanding settings.
