• Adaptable and willing to learn new skills on the job About the Role As a Fabrication Assistant at GMT, you will help build our Earth Flow composting systems in our Poulsbo shop.

Earth Flows are composting units built from retrofitted shipping containers with wood-framed walls, a stainless-steel liner, and a gantry system with an auger. Each unit includes a control system that runs the auger and gantry autonomously. You'll work with tools and materials to assemble components, support production runs, and ensure systems are built to specification. This is a hands-on, part-time role where your craftsmanship will directly support the success of our composting technology in the field. Responsibilities

• Assemble composting system components (metal fabrication/ assembly, wood framing, hardware organization, etc.)
• Use basic shop tools including drills, riveters, saws, grinders, and other hand/power tools
• Support welding and fabrication tasks (welding experience preferred but not required)
• Read and follow assembly drawings and part lists (BOMs)
• Maintain a clean and safe shop environment
• Assist with shipping preparation and logistics as needed
• Collaborate with the production team to improve build processes and efficiency Skills & Experience
• Comfortable using hand tools and power tools (drills, riveters, angle grinders, saws, etc.)
• Experience working with metal preferred
• Experience with wood framing and assembly work preferred
• Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings or instructions
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Reliable, organized, and safety-minded

Compensation:

$20-25 - variable based on experience
