Ironworker Superintendent C.D. Smith United States, Wisconsin, Milwaukee 8325 West Tower Avenue (Show on map) Jun 17, 2026 Summary The Superintendent ironworker is responsible for completing tasks related to structural iron, rebar and steel erection on the project site. Transforming metal pieces in to functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques. The ideal candidate also demonstrates a strong commitment to safety by following company and industry procedures, as well as promoting company initiatives related to safety. This is hourly, union role. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Interpret and apply information from blueprints, plans, and written specifications to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials needed. Ensure proper placement, balance and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs. Field fabrication or assembly of metal parts such as steel frames, columns, beams, and girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors. Installing angle and bent plate, welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers; installing safety cable and safety posts; or shaking out and spreading joists and long spans. Plumbing of structural steel; installing deck; installing and welding steel stairs, handrails, and guardrail. Access challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following the proper OSHA regulations and company policies, procedures, and/or programs Build steel or iron structural pieces and components as required by the project. Steel and cable reinforcing in concrete construction (rebar work) Erection of the structural steel of buildings Window wall and curtain wall exteriors Erect or dismantle structural steel frameworks Assist with erecting or dismantling cranes Signal Operators for positioning structural steel Rig structural-steel members to hoist cables, using chains, cables, or rope. Connect columns and beams with bolts or by welding them into place Use shears, torches, or welding equipment to cut, bend and weld steel Unload and position prefabrication steel for hoisting as needed Verify vertical and horizontal steel alignment
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Time Management skills Strong teamworking skills Able to work additional hours as needed per the job Ability to travel to project work sites Required Education and Experience Valid driver's license with clean driving record High school diploma or its equivalent 5-10 years ironworking experience Preferred Education and Experience Completion of an apprenticeship or experience in the field Qualified Rigger and Signalperson Certified OSHA 10 Certification
