Raleigh, NC Description DRMP is seeking a motivated and dependable SUE Technician I to join our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in utility locating, surveying, and underground infrastructure investigations. The SUE Technician I assists with utility designation, vacuum excavation, and data collection activities under the guidance of experienced technicians and project leaders. Work Environment:
This position is primarily field-based and requires working outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions. Travel to project sites will be required, including overnight stays. The role involves physically demanding activities, operation of specialized equipment, and adherence to strict safety protocols. Career Growth:

Assist with underground utility locating and designation activities using non-destructive methods, including electromagnetic induction (EMI) and ground penetrating radar (GPR). Load, unload, maintain, and operate vacuum excavation equipment and supplies under direct supervision. Assist with vacuum excavation operations to expose and verify underground utilities. Operate field equipment including air compressors, vacuum hoses, air lances, hand tools, jackhammers, concrete saws, pogo-tampers, and related equipment. Support utility mark-outs, surveying tasks, and SUE field activities. Accurately label and place paint, flags, and utility markings following project requirements and senior technician instructions. Collect reliable field measurements and maintain proper photo documentation. Document field data through sketches, photographs, spreadsheets, daily reports, and written summaries. Read and interpret plans, utility records, maps, and other technical documents. Perform basic maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of field equipment and vehicles. Assist with surface preparation and site restoration activities. Maintain cleanliness and serviceability of vehicles, equipment, and tools. Communicate effectively with project team members, clients, contractors, and agency personnel. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices. Demonstrate reliability, accountability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Support senior team members and participate in ongoing technical and safety training. What You'll Need:
High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Ability to walk, stand, kneel, squat, bend, and perform physically demanding fieldwork for extended periods. Basic math skills and willingness to learn SUE, utility locating, and surveying processes. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills. Ability to travel for project assignments, including overnight travel. Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings. Ability to pass military and government background checks when required. Understanding of and commitment to company field safety procedures and guidelines. Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in surveying, construction, utility locating, utility engineering, or related field work. OSHA 10 certification. Flagger, IMOT, or TTC certifications. Experience operating vacuum excavation equipment or utility locating equipment. DRMP Offers:
