Role Summary The Landscape Designer and Sales role is responsible for leading clients through the full design and sales process while transforming ideas into well executed profitable high-end residential landscape projects. This role serves as the bridge between client vision, project design, and field execution, guiding each project from the initial consultation through design development, proposal presentation, signed contract, and production handoff. We are looking for a driven professional who combines strong design ability with sales confidence, communication skills, and a high level of personal ownership. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading client conversations, skilled in design software, and capable of balancing creativity with real world construction awareness, budgeting, and project feasibility. Lead Intake and Client Consultation Receive and respond to inbound leads in a timely and professional manner Conduct on-site consultations with residential clients to understand project goals, aesthetic preferences, site conditions, and budget parameters Establish trust and set clear expectations with clients from the first interaction 2. Design Develop full landscape design plans using LandFX or AutoCAD, including planting plans, hardscape layouts, grading concepts, irrigation zoning, and lighting integration as applicable Create topographical plans using provided plans or information captured from Highridge's survey equipment Produce both 2D construction plans and 3D renderings to effectively communicate design intent through the client approval process Produce client-ready design packages including plans, planting palettes, and material selections that reflect Highridge's high-end positioning Revise and refine designs based on client feedback with a focus on speed, clarity, and conversion Stay current on plant material availability, regional growing conditions, design trends, and material costs in the Bozeman market 3. Estimating Use the estimating process within Aspire to build accurate, line-item project estimates covering labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment Collaborate with production leadership to validate estimates against crew capacity and real-world execution requirements Build proposals that clearly communicate scope, value, and investment while protecting project margin 4. Proposal Presentation and Close Present designs and proposals directly to clients and lead the conversation through signed agreement Build client confidence by refining solutions, thoughtfully addressing questions, and guiding project approval Track proposal pipeline and conversion activity within Aspire 5. Production Handoff Manage the transition from signed proposal to production team with complete documentation and clear scope transfer Serve as a resource to the production team during project execution to ensure design intent is carried through Build and maintain strong client relationships that generate referrals and repeat business Qualifications 3 or more years of experience in landscape design, with a portfolio of completed residential projects Proficiency in LandFX or AutoCAD, including 2D drafting and 3D rendering capabilities Experience with estimating software, preferably Aspire or comparable job costing platform Strong understanding of plant material, hardscape systems, and residential landscape construction processes Ability to read and interpret site surveys, architectural plans, and grading documents Excellent verbal communication and client presentation skills Degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field preferred Montana or comparable regional plant knowledge is a significant advantage What We Offer Competitive base salary plus commission tied to sold project volume A high-end residential client base with unlimited upside. Proposals are updated and reissued each time the design is revised, ensuring the client always has an accurate and current idea of scope and investment. Projects are closed at Highridge's target gross margins. Work is scoped accurately, priced correctly, and sold without underbidding to win. Volume and margin are both being hit consistently. Clients are confident at every stage of the process. Expectations are set clearly from the first consultation, communication is proactive, and the client experience reflects Highridge's standard from first call through production handoff. Design packages are site-aware, budget conscious, and detailed enough that production can be executed without redesigns or clarification. Plans are built to be built. You maintain an active working relationship with the operations team. You understand crew capacity, material lead times, and field constraints, and that understanding shows up in every estimate and proposal you produce. Past clients refer new clients. Relationships extend beyond the close, phases of work grow, and Highridge's reputation builds in the market as a direct result of the experience you deliver.
