Land Morphology | Seattle, Washington Land Morphology is a design-driven landscape architecture practice engaged in the creation of public gardens, estates, and high-end residential landscapes. The firm's work is defined by rigorous design thinking, exceptional planting composition, and precise detailing. Our portfolio includes nationally recognized projects such as Leach Botanical Garden (Portland, OR), the Gardens at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens (Crestwood, KY), and the planting design for Seattle's Waterfront Park and Overlook Walk in collaboration with Field Operations. Our work extends across multiple regions, grounded in a commitment to craft, ecology, and enduring beauty. Job Overview Land Morphology seeks a Principal Landscape Architect to join and help lead the practice. This role is both strategic and hands-on—guiding design direction, managing complex projects, and mentoring a growing team. The Principal will serve as a design leader and project manager, responsible for shaping work from concept through construction. This includes establishing project vision, directing design and documentation, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and execution. The role also contributes to the firm's long-term growth through client development, marketing, and collaboration with senior leadership on operations and strategy. Qualifications Professional Qualifications:
Registered Landscape Architect Minimum 10+ years of professional experience Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field (BLA, BSLA, or MLA preferred) Demonstrated expertise in high-end residential landscape design (required)
Design & Technical Leadership:
Strong design sensibility with an emphasis on spatial composition Proven ability to lead projects from concept through construction Expertise in construction documentation, detailing, and specifications Experience with permitting processes, consultant coordination, and construction administration Proficiency in
AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite Leadership & Practice Contribution:
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor project teams Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills Experience managing client relationships, project budgets, and schedules Ability to contribute to marketing efforts, including proposals and presentations
