Job Description
To teach workforce education or certificate courses in Landscape Construction and/or Design. Adjunct faculty members in Agriculture are responsible for providing high-quality instruction in classroom, laboratory, and/or field settings. The instructor supports student learning by delivering engaging course content, assessing student performance, and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment aligned with the mission of the community collegeBachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture and/or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and three years experience in Landscape construction/design, Agriculture or related industry OR Associate's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture and/or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and five years experience in Landscape construction/design, Agriculture or related industry. An active participant in the Ag industry. Knowledge of landscape construction materials, installation methods, site preparation, lighting, water features, general construction details, principles of landscape design, and plan preparation. Computer literacy required with ability to use instructional technologies and learning management systems such as Blackboard. Ability to communicate with written and oral expertise in the English language. Proficiency in the use of agriculture equipment and machinery operation. Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences. Ability to teach students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. Deliver effective instruction in Horticulture courses (e.g., Landscape Construction, Landscape Design) Utilize instructional technology and the learning management system (LMS) Blackboard for course delivery and communication. Preparation of Agriculture curricula; make recommendations for curriculum revisions, equipment purchases, textbooks, etc. Communicate clearly and professionally with students regarding expectations, progress, and academic support. Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments; provide timely feedback. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress and submit certification of roles to registrar by required deadline. Adhere to college policies and provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and improvement Teach courses according to syllabi and textbooks as approved by the department. Perform other duties as assigned
