Job Description

Woodyard Tractor Driver position involves operating equipment within the sawmill yard to manage log inventory.
Job Title:
Day/Night Shift Log Yard Truck Driver (Non-CDL)
Location:
Hazlehurst, GA (Thompson Hardwoods Inc. / Beasley Group) [1]
Key Responsibilities Log Transport:
Operate log trucks within the sawmill yard to move logs from storage to designated production areas.
Yard Maneuvering:
Safely navigate trucks in confined spaces, around heavy machinery, log decks, and other vehicles.
Inventory Support:
Assist with staging, organizing, and sorting logs to support continuous mill production.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform pre-shift inspections of equipment and report any maintenance issues, leaks, or damage to supervisors.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all yard traffic patterns, safety regulations, and OSHA standards.
Communication:
Coordinate with loader operators, crane operators, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow
Qualifications Experience:
Previous experience operating log trucks is mandatory.
Licensing:
A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not required , as the position operates exclusively within the yard.
Skills:
Strong understanding of log yard safety and ability to operate in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Dependability:
Strong attendance record and ability to work as part of a team Physical Requirements Ability to climb in and out of the truck multiple times per shift. Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment. Ability to work safely around heavy machinery. Typical Schedule 12-hour shifts. Often includes 60 hours per week (5-day work week with occasional weekends). Night shift differential pay may be available
