Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Contract Timber Hauler and become a vital part of the sustainable forestry supply chain! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for transporting timber and related freight safely and efficiently across designated routes. Your expertise in truck driving, route management, and freight handling will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team committed to responsible resource management and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities Operate a variety of commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized equipment to transport timber and forestry products. Load and unload freight efficiently using equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper securing of loads to prevent shifting during transit. Drive route-specific deliveries across regional or long-haul routes, adhering strictly to scheduled timelines and safety regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure and after arrival. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, freight details, route information, and delivery documentation in compliance with transportation regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route changes, or safety concerns. Follow all safety protocols related to manual transmission operation, refrigerated trailer handling, flatbed securing techniques, tanker procedures, and other specialized freight requirements. Qualifications Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving environments; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements suitable for operating tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers or dump trucks. Skilled in operating manual transmission vehicles with a strong understanding of vehicle controls and safety procedures. Experience with load & unload operations including forklift operation for freight handling. Knowledge of route driving best practices along with familiarity with freight types such as timber products or forestry-related cargo. Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks independently. Strong commitment to safety standards and regulatory compliance in all aspects of driving and freight handling.
