Lumber grader Blough Hardwoods Inc Clarksville, MI 48815 From $25 an hour - Full-time From $25 an hour - Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Lumber Grader to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will evaluate and grade lumber to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications. Your expertise will help maintain product consistency, optimize processing efficiency, and support the overall quality assurance process. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where precision, craftsmanship, and safety are paramount. Duties Inspect outgoing lumber using calipers, hand tools, and other measuring devices to assess quality, dimensions, and grade Operate machinery such as double end trimmer and multi-saw edger. Use front-end loaders safely to move large quantities of lumber within the warehouse or production area Apply grading standards based on wood quality, appearance, and structural integrity to classify lumber accurately Assist with programming adjustments to optimize manufacturing processes for value, yield and consistency Conduct visual inspections for defects such as knots, splits, or warping that could affect product performance Maintain detailed records of grading results, machine settings, and inventory movements to ensure traceability and quality control Qualifications Proven experience in lumber grading according to NHLA guidelines in a high production facility Hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools, scaling/marking sticks, and other measuring instruments Strong understanding of NHLA grading standards, and quality assurance procedures Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify defects quickly and accurately Join our team as a Lumber Grader and be part of a passionate group dedicated to producing top-quality hardwood lumber!
