Certified Crane Operator

Experience crane operator with at least 5 years experience operating a crane. Experience removing trees with cranes, NCCO certified, Class A CDL and a good driving record are a must. Salary ranges from $35 -$40 per hour based on experience. Job is located in the Raleigh/Durham NC area.

Basic Function:

Responsible for all aspects of operating the crane.

Responsibilities:

Conduct daily safety inspection of the crane. Drive crane where needed on jobsites. Operate crane during the tree removal process using ANSI safety standards. Determine load weights, situate weights and check them against lifting capacities in order to prevent overload. Direct helpers engaged in placing blocking and outrigging under cranes. Participate in identifying trees to be removed or trimmed. Coordiante setup for job. Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, etc., making repairs as necessary. Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms and lifting accessories in order to prevent malfunctions and damage. Fuel the crane daily or as needed. Maintain log book. Notify customer when crew has completed the job. Upon completion of the job, situate weights and breakdown crane.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, eight (8) years experience, five of which must have been related to driving and operating cranes. CPR and First Aid certified

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge of crane operation. Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to crane operations. Working knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in tree removal work. Skill in operation of required tools and equipment. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with other employees, supervisors and the public (including customers). Ability to observe proper ANSI safety precautions. Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION

Valid Class A CDL license.

NCCO or NCCER Certified Pay:

$35.00 - $45.00 per hour
