2026 SUMMARY The Surface Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting muck from the headframe to designated waste piles, stockpiles, or processing areas. This role supports daily mine operations by operating heavy equipment, maintaining clean and organized surface areas, and performing additional tasks as assigned. The Surface Operator plays a key role in ensuring smooth material flow from underground to surface while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Handling & Equipment Operation:
Safely operate surface haul trucks, loaders, and other equipment to transport muck from the headframe to waste piles or stockpiles. Coordinate with hoist operators, underground personnel, and surface supervisors to ensure efficient material movement. Maintain proper dumping practices to ensure stable, well‑managed waste piles. Inspect equipment before and after use; report defects or maintenance needs promptly.
Surface Area Support:
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas around the headframe, waste dumps, and haul routes. Assist with snow removal, road maintenance, and surface infrastructure upkeep as required. Support material handling for ore, waste, supplies, and other surface logistics.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all MSHA, company, and site‑specific safety procedures. Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and required training. Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or environmental concerns. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to waste handling and surface operations.
General Duties:
Perform routine housekeeping and equipment cleaning. Assist maintenance crews, warehouse staff, or other departments as assigned. Support emergency response activities when required. Adapt to changing operational needs and perform additional tasks to support mine operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment operation preferred. Experience with haul trucks, loaders, or similar equipment is an asset.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety. Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work as part of a team. Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment inspections and troubleshooting. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Other Requirements:
Must complete MSHA New Miner training or provide documentation of prior training. Must pass pre‑employment physical and drug screen. Valid driver's license required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed outdoors in a mining environment with exposure to weather, dust, noise, vibration, and heavy equipment. The role requires climbing, lifting, and working around active haul routes and machinery. Shift work, weekends, nights, and overtime may be required Seven days on Seven days off
