Job Description

All new employees are hired to the call board. This is a system by which employees are assigned to various temporary jobs until having won a job bid on a regularly scheduled job. Employees on the call board are scheduled to work in any area they have been certified on, as dictated by production demands, cleanup requirements, absenteeism, sickness, vacations etc. As a PotlatchDeltic Team Member, all call board employees are expected to be available to work full time, 40 hours or 5 days per week and will be placed in the schedule on jobs they are certified on. There are opportunities for overtime during the week and on the weekends. Call Board employees can be assigned to either mill - Plywood or Lumber. Hourly rate for this position is: $26.63. Essential Job Functions/Physical Demands Must be able to perform essential job functions for entry level positions - Dryer Grader, Dryer Feeder, Dryer Cleanup, Scarf line op., Green Veneer Off Bearer, Sawmill Utility, Merchandising Utility, Planer Utility, Bin Sorter. Unplugging jam ups in machinery. Utilize various hand tools i.e. brooms, pike poles, scrapers, air wands. Lifting as much as 50# from ground to knee/waist/chest/shoulder levels. Pushing and pulling boards or veneer. Carrying debris, boards, veneer, and tools. Occasional pushing of broom and/or shovel for sawdust/debris. Kneeling to blow down key areas or to remove debris from under machinery. Climbing to access key areas of the Plywood and/or Lumber mills, utilizing steps, stairs, ladders, or platforms. Infrequent or Marginal job functions Responds and assists with firefighting. Assists with general cleanup wherever needed. Assists Maintenance when needed. Performs other duties as needed. Environmental/Safety Maintain compliance with all St. Maries Complex Environmental & Safety rules and regulations.
Requirements:
Safe working habits. Good attendance . Ability to do repetitive physical tasks. Able to work well in a team environment. Must be able to work any shift (Days, Swing, Graveyard or Weekends). Self-Motivated, hard working. Prior Lumber or Plywood production experience preferred. Forklift experience preferred. Working Conditions Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in a loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations. Able to work in an environment with airborne particles (sawdust).
