This role ensures safety compliance, efficient material handling, and smooth workflow within the pit. The Pit Operator coordinates with other crews and operators to ensure optimal, safe production processes. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor machinery and equipment within the pit according to established protocols and safety guidelines. Oversee the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring proper handling and documentation. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to keep them in safe and working condition. Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors to coordinate operations and address issues. Monitor pit conditions to ensure safety and compliance with environmental regulations. Maintain accurate records of operations, including material movement and equipment usage. Participate in safety training and adhere to all health and safety standards. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment, preferably in a mining, quarry, or construction environment. Working knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to pit operations. Ability to lift and move heavy objects. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Basic mechanical aptitude. MSHA Preferred Qualifications Certification in equipment operation or a relevant field. Previous experience in a similar role. Familiarity with environmental and workplace safety regulations. First Aid or CPR certification. Skills and Competencies Attention to detail in equipment operation and maintenance. Problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Time management skills. Adaptability to changing work conditions. Physical stamina and strength. Strong adherence to safety protocols.
