Septic Service Technician Forsyth Septic & Rooter Service Winston-Salem, NC Job Details Full-time $20 - $23 an hour 22 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Septic Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and servicing septic systems for residential and commercial clients. This role involves pumping septic tanks, performing system diagnostics, and providing preventative maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of septic systems. The technician is expected to follow all safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Septic Pumping:
Pump, clean, and inspect residential and commercial septic tanks and systems.
System Inspections:
Conduct detailed inspections of septic tanks to identify issues such as blockages, leaks, or system failures.
Preventative Maintenance:
Advise customers on proper septic system care and perform routine maintenance to prevent issues.
Repair Services:
Assist in repairing or replacing damaged parts of the septic tanks, such as piping, filters.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve issues related to septic tanks, including clogs, backups, and malfunctioning components.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of service calls, inspections, repairs, and customer communications.
Customer Service:
Communicate clearly with clients regarding the status of their systems, needed repairs, and preventative measures.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety guidelines, industry standards, and local environmental regulations for handling waste and servicing septic tanks.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure the maintenance of trucks, pumps, hoses, and other equipment used in servicing septic tanks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience in septic tanks service, plumbing, or a related field is preferred. Valid commercial driver's license (CDLB) and clean driving record. Ability to operate septic pumping trucks and related equipment. Basic knowledge of septic system components and functionality. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, digging, and work in varying outdoor conditions. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to wastewater management.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to use hand and power tools. Ability to read and interpret site plans and blueprints. Attention to detail and thoroughness in inspections. Good time management and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
Regularly works outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. May be required to work weekends or be on call for emergency services.
