Job Description

The Propane Service Technician services as an integral part of our organization by providing safe and reliable service to our customers' propane and/or fuel oil systems and appliances. The Propane Service Technician reports directly to the Office Manager and Vice President of Operations of the 21st Century Energy Group. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install tanks and cylinders, run gas lines (Inside and Outside), perform pressure safety checks. Assemble and repair propane fill stations. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair propane and/or fuel oil systems and appliances Respond to gas odor, out of gas and poor pressure calls.
  • Install liquid systems such as vaporizers, pumps and related schedule 80 gas lines.
  • Establish material list needed for jobs and procure materials.
  • Maintain, repair and/or remove propane tanks, regulators and pigtails.
  • Carry out daily work orders from the propane dispatcher.
  • Detect and immediately report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions of propane system.
  • Install, maintain, repair and remove meters Maintain the service vehicle which includes reviewing the maintenance record, performing pre- and post-trip inspections and reporting all vehicle conditions requiring attention for continued safe operation and proper vehicle maintenance Deliver propane and/or fuel oil as required in a safe and efficient manner by following proper loading and unloading procedures Provide superior customer service and strive to achieve zero service related customer complaints Bill customers for services rendered and account for funds and inventory which includes operating a handheld terminal, maintaining a trip report and documenting system testing and related information All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Specifications Clean driving record with a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements as well as a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate allowing for operation in interstate commerce (or the ability to quickly obtain stated license, certificate and required endorsements)
  • Must have knowledge of basic mathematics and be able to operate a hand held calculator.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Prefer a CETP certified individual but not required
  • Basic Computer Skills Ability to lift 50 to 75 lbs.
Exceptional customer service skills Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
