Job Description
The Rig Hand 1 is part of the crew that works on a service rig and is responsible for servicing oil and gas wells. This position performs a combination of Floor Hand and Derrick Hand duties, including assisting in rigging-up and rigging-down operations, running pipe and casing, operating rig equipment, working from elevated positions such as the tubing board, and assisting with mud pump operations and maintenance. The Rig Hand 1 is responsible for safely handling drill pipe, tubing, casing, and associated equipment while ensuring all duties are performed according to company standard operating procedures and safety regulations. This position may also be required to operate the rig, work floors, and assist with additional tasks specified by the customer or well operator. All duties are to be performed in a manner that maximizes the safety of all personnel at the worksite and ensures efficient completion of all assigned tasks. Essential Functions of Job Lift, operate specific equipment, rig-up and rig-down components of the rig and other equipment used on location Assist in rigging-up and rigging-down operations, including elevated work associated with the tubing board, rod basket, and derrick operations Position, lift, attach, install, and work with casing, drill pipe, tubing, rods, and associated well equipment such as pumps, swivels, catwalks, tongs, and elevators Transfer drill pipe and tubing from vertical racks to elevators and assist in lifting pipe from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa Operate tongs, elevators, mud pumps, and other related rig tools and equipment safely and effectively Perform repair and maintenance on mud pumps and related rig equipment as needed Physically load and unload pipe or other materials without the use of hoist equipment when required Set hydraulic jacks, handle pads/boards, and assist in attaching guy wires to anchors Assist in lining up the well service rig with the well Work on elevated surfaces, including the tubing board and rod basket when required and qualified Report any safety hazards, accidents, maintenance concerns, or equipment issues to the rig supervisor immediately Ensure all work activities are carried out in compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and all applicable safety regulations Participate in all required company training programs, including FortiSafe Certified training Perform additional duties as assigned Skills you'll need: Workover rig experience Must have a "can do", customer services orientated approach Ability to communicate both oral and written effectively Must comply with all safety policies and procedures
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
Safeland/PEC Valid driver license CDL Well Control School H2S, Forklift/Manlift, and CPR/1st Aid Any other heavy equipment licenses or certifications Physical Requirements of Job 1.
