SALARY INFORMATION

Equipment Operator Journey 1: $31.62 / hourly - OT EligibleEquipment Operator Journey 2: $33.44 / hourly - OT EligibleWhat you will be doing: Equipment Operator Journey 1:

The incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journey-level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of State of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure. Use of heavy-duty equipment will be in a training capacity.

Equipment Operator Journey 2:

The incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journeyman level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of heavy equipment to perform maintenance activities. Shift work may be required.

This position with the Iliamna Maintenance Station crew is located in Iliamna, Alaska. The crew operates and maintains our airport and highways in all conditions, year around. Whether plowing snow in near "white-out" conditions; repairing asphalt; maintaining airfield lighting and signs; or training for any emergency that may occur. Our ideal candidate will thrive in the variety of tasks and the teamwork that this busy environment offers.

Opportunity exists to travel to other stations, possibly for extended periods, during the summer months to complete projects.

Who We Are Looking For:

Transportation:

Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road including cost and limits.

Vehicle operation: knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles, including cars, trucks, or watercraft.

Problem solving:

Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Eye-hand coordination:

Equipment Operator Journey 1:

As a condition of employment, the incumbent shall obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (in accordance with49 CFR Part 383.23) within 180 days of hire and shall comply with all provisions set forth in the most recent Equipment Operator Flex Letter of Agreement (LOA). Failure to obtain the required licensure within the specified timeframe shall result in termination of employment.

The incumbent must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements applicable to CDL and safety-sensitive positions. Drug screening is required prior to operating any equipment requiring a CDL. Upon licensure, the incumbent shall be subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with established policy.

Where applicable, the incumbent shall obtain and maintain firearms qualification.

Equipment Operator Journey 2:

Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in accordance with 49 CFR Part 383.23, as well as compliance with the most recent Equipment Operator Flex Letter of Agreement (LOA), is required.

A valid Tanker (N) endorsement is required at the time of appointment or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire under a conditional memorandum. Management may also require the incumbent to obtain a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement; however, this is not required at the time of appointment.

The incumbent must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements applicable to CDL and safety-sensitive positions, including a background check and pre-employment drug testing. Upon appointment, the incumbent shall be subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with policy.

Where applicable, the incumbent shall obtain and maintain firearms qualification.
