7:00AM - 5:00 PM Monday through
Friday Description:
Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient movement, sorting, and processing of scrap metal materials. You will operate a variety of machinery, including cranes and front-end loaders, to ensure our yard maintains high productivity and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a dependable professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and has a "safety-first"mindset.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Operation:
Safely operate material handlers (cranes with grapples/magnets), front-end loaders, and other heavy machinery to move or load scrap metal.
Material Handling:
Sort, stack, and move various grades of metal to designated areas or into processing equipment (balers, shears, etc.).
Loading/Unloading:
Assist in loading outbound trailers and unloading incoming customer vehicles or railcars.
Daily Inspections:
Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections; report any maintenance needs or safety hazards immediately.
Site Maintenance:
Assist in keeping the yard organized and clear of debris to ensure a safe workspace for staff and customers.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements at all times.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment (Cranes/Material Handlers and Loaders preferred).
Industry Knowledge:
Previous experience in a scrap yard, construction site, or recycling facility is a major plus.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and sit/stand for extended periods.
Reliability:
Proven track record of punctuality and consistent attendance for the 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM shift.
Awareness:
High level of spatial awareness and the ability to operate machinery around ground personnel and other vehicles. Benefits Steady daytime schedule. Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities. #CAR
